MAINTENANCE APPRENTICE

Job Responsibilities

• Train with experienced maintenance professionals to gain knowledge in the agriculture maintenance profession.
• Learn the methods and practices of using the correct materials, tools and equipment commonly used in maintenance.
• Learn the repair, testing and trouble-shooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulics.
• Maintain and repair screw conveyors, bucket belt elevators, drag conveyors, boilers, hammer mills, and any other items related to the mechanical operation of the equipment.
• Learn to diagnose problems and repair equipment as needed, recognizing when to recommend outsourcing projects when necessary.
• Ensure precise equipment maintenance records are maintained.
• Ability to work at extreme heights.
• Demonstrate initiative to work independently while being flexible enough to work in a team setting.
• Exhibit a professional image at all times, maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
• Maintain a clean driving record with no more than two points and no DUI's or OVI's.
• Maintain and clean work areas.
• Use Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) when needed, without exception.

Qualified candidates for this position will possess the following:

• Must be coachable with a positive team-work attitude.
• Able to meet the physical requirements of the position including, ascending grain bins, prolonged periods of standing, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, working in a variety of conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.) and lifting up to 70 lbs.
• Possess an excellent work ethic.
• Ability to operate a forklift and/or skid steer loader.
• Maintain good attendance.
• Willing to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
• Class B CDL preferred, but not required.
• Strong mechanical ability and mathematical aptitude.
• Assist grain elevator staff with various projects.
• Willingness to learn Stick and MIG Welding and automated manufacturing PLC systems.
