Central Oregon Pediatric Associates (COPA) of Bend, Oregon , the largest pediatric practice in the region, is hiring a full-time Pediatric LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) in Bend & Redmond, Oregon.

At COPA, the Pediatric LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) plays an integral role serving patients at our friendly and welcoming medical clinic for children of all ages. The Pediatric LPN performs the primary functions of a LPN in supporting, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of the infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent patient and is responsible for meeting the standards of care established by the practice.

The role of the Pediatric LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) will include but is not limited to the following duties :

Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards, and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with COPA policies and procedures within pertinent laws and regulations in the following areas :

  • Demonstrates ability to plan, organize and prioritize nursing care effectively.
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms while collecting patient history and vital signs.
  • Conducts screening tests and other screening tools; grading them as appropriate.
  • Provides necessary medical information at time of visit.
  • Demonstrates thorough, concise, and timely documentation in the patient's medical record related to the care rendered and the patient's response to that care and in accordance with department and organizational guidelines
  • Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by the physician in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to accurately forecast and administer pediatric immunizations.
  • Demonstrates EHR efficiency and knowledge.
  • Demonstrates thorough, concise, and timely documentation in the patient's medical record related to the care rendered and the patient's response to that care.
  • Self-motivated and able to make decisions independently while supporting the practice's philosophy and values.
  • Steps in to help within scope of practice, using appropriate clinical decision making.
  • Calculates safe medication doses and administers medications following the Seven Medication Rights.
  • Assists in the monitoring, procurement and proper inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Supports Clinical Operations team and providers by providing resource support including break coverage, assisting with rooming patients, administering immunizations and medications, and supporting procedures.
  • Provides individualized patient and family education.
  • Assists in the monitoring, procurement and proper inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains own clinical skills staying current in skills, equipment, and trends in nursing.
  • Assists in the orientation of new personnel.
  • Performs other related work as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • Performs patient care during scheduled shift hours.

Qualifications

Education and Certification :

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program. Current Oregon LPN Licensure and license must be in good standing.
  • Recognized certifications in addition to LPN (required) include OHA HCI Qualified or Certified Interpreter, AAPC-CPC, NCCT or NHA Phlebotomy certifications
  • Current CPR for Healthcare Provider required.
  • Experience :

  • Nursing experience required; pediatric experience preferred. Experience with working with electronic medical records systems and MS Office. Epic experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level in person, over the telephone or through use of other required technology. Sitting or standing for long periods of time. Frequent repetitive motion includes computer keyboard use, reaching with hands and arms, and walking. Occasional lifting and or moving up to 30 pounds and on rare occasion up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include viewing computer monitor for long periods of time, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Working Conditions :

  • Work inside in a general medical office setting with ergonomically configured equipment.
  • The employee is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to mechanical parts and chemicals including odors. The employee has been identified as having the likelihood of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials, therefore are included in the OSHA Exposure Control Plan with specification for preventing contact with the above materials.
  • Travel between COPA clinics and business office as required.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
