What are the responsibilities and job description for the Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician (OB/GYN) position at Central Ozarks Medical Center?
We are expanding our team to serve the needs of our community in the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri area! Central Ozarks Medical Center (COMC) is excited to announce an opening for a OB/GYN for our Osage Beach Clinic! COMC is a Missouri non-profit, federally qualified health center that has served Pulaski, Laclede, Camden and Miller counties for over 40 years. Responsibilities: Consistent with COMC’s goals and objectives as defined by the Board of Directors, providing comprehensive medical health care to all patients within the limitations of the clinic’s space, equipment, and support personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
- Monitor and treat patients during pregnancy and childbirth, including prenatal advising up to delivery and postnatal care.
- Provide examinations, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of clinic, ambulatory, and hospitalized patients
- Prescribe or administer therapy, medication, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
- Perform surgical procedures as needed to preserve patient’s health and deliver babies safely.
- Order and analyze necessary tests, screenings, biopsies, scans, etc. to effectively diagnose a problem
- Direct, advise, and supervise medical staff including nurses, physician assistants, med techs etc. on proper procedures and protocol
- Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical histories, reports, and examination results. Maintain adequate and properly documented records per COMC policy.
- Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatment with patients and/or their family members as designated on patient HIPAA forms.
- Prescribe or administer medication and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury
- Conduct follow-ups with patients to monitor and track their condition.
- Monitor patient conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
- Refer patients to medical specialist or other practitioners as necessary
- Implement and participate in medical programs consistent with the goals and objectives outlined by the Board of Directors.
- Assure 24-hour management and accessibility to patients in a call rotation with other medical providers.
- Develop and update patient care protocols with other medical providers.
- Recommend medical supply and equipment purchases to the CEO and/or COO.
- Participate in all COMC Quality Improvement policies and activities.
- Participate in medical audits as required.
- Assure compliance with infectious waste protocols.
- Continue personal professional education as required to maintain licensure
- Perform other appropriate duties as required.

Qualifications Requirements:
Must have received M.D. or D.O. in Obstetrics and Gynecology from accredited medical school; possess a current Missouri license to practice medicine and current DEA licensure and BLS/ACLS certification. Specialty physicians must meet qualifications that are required for their specialty.
Language Skills: Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients, staff, and regulatory agencies, when necessary.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with basic accounting concepts.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Other Skills and Abilities: Excellent customer service skills.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This includes moderate physical effort consisting of occasionally lifting or moving over 35 pounds of weight.
Travel Requirement: To fulfill the responsibility of the position travel to all COMC locations may be required. Employee must have valid Missouri driver’s license and availability of a motor vehicle. Overnight travel may also be required in specific incidences of training, conferences, etc.
