We are expanding our service lines to meet the needs of our community in the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri area! Central Ozarks Medical Center (COMC) is excited to announce an opening for an Optometrist! This position will be placed in our brand-new, state-of-the-art Optometry Mobile Unit serving 5 counties, seeing both children and adults! COMC is looking for a mission-driven team member who is comfortable working with patients with diverse backgrounds. We are seeking a positive, motivated, self-starter to jump in and build this new and exciting program.

Responsibilities: Consistent with COMC’s goals and objectives as defined by the Board of Directors, the Optometrist’s primary accountability is to be responsible for the operation of an optometry clinic with professional accountability to provide safe, accurate and appropriate prescriptions and clinical services to patients within the framework of professional standards of care and legal requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
· Conduct eye exams using optometric equipment and general diagnostic interpretation to diagnose patient sight problems, identify patient’s visual alertness and field of vision, and determine treatment.
· Assures that the clinic maintains standards of optometry practice equal to or above those accepted by professional ethics, and federal/state regulatory agencies.
· Diagnose and treat ocular disease and other eye-related disorders and conditions.
· Prescribe medications for eye-related disorders as applicable.
· Prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids as appropriate.
· Recommend appropriate patient follow-up options and care plans.
· Answer questions and provide advice to patients regarding vision and optical issues.
· Promote eye health by teaching patients about proper eye care.
· Enters and updates patient data in medical charts, maintains accurate patient records as required by federal and state laws and regulations and in keeping with company policy.
· Supervises optometry technicians and, as appropriate, delegates duties while assuming final responsibility for work performed by the staff.
· Maintain a cost-effective optometry inventory and ensures metrics are met for sustainability.
· Assures the maintenance and safekeeping of department records.
· Provides expertise to Medical and other Health Center staff.
· Member of the clinic provider team to discuss topics affecting patient care.
· Participates in quality assurance programs and projects supporting the vision and mission of the organization.
· Deliver outstanding customer service in all patient interactions in keeping with company values.
· Attends and participates in meetings as required.
· Perform other appropriate duties as required.

Qualifications Requirements:
Must have received Doctor of Optometry (OD) from accredited medical school; possess a current Missouri Optometrist’s license to practice. Must have or a current life support certification or be able to obtain one within the first 90 days of employment.
Technical Abilities: Knowledge of medical information. Ability to utilize computer software, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, charts, graphs, and interact with online platforms.
Language Skills: Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients and regulatory agencies, when necessary. Clearly and concisely communicate with staff, patients, and insurance companies/vendors. Effectively present information to top management and the Board of Directors.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to analyze data and work with basic mathematical concepts.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Other Skills and Abilities: Excellent customer service skills.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This includes moderate physical effort consisting of occasionally lifting or moving over 35 pounds of weight.
Travel Requirement: To fulfill the responsibility of the position travel to all COMC locations may be required. Employee must have valid Missouri driver’s license and availability of a motor vehicle. Overnight travel may also be required in specific incidences of training, conferences, etc.
Work Environment: Work is performed in a clinic pharmacy environment. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Knowledge of, and compliance with, HIPAA and 340B regulations is required. Confidentiality of patient information is mandatory.
