Qualifications:
*7-10 years of progressively responsible experience including positions as a Sr. Accountant, Asst. Controller or Controller strongly preferred
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited four year university or college
*CPA, CMA, or equivalent certifications a plus
* Outstanding accounting and communication skills, a positive attitude and professional demeanor
*Knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
*Knowledge of or ability to learn Funds/accounting software (Sage 100)
*Experience in or knowledge of benefit plan accounting, compliance, and reporting preferred
Job Requirements:
Strong communication skills with clients, colleagues and management
Familiarity with ERISA, Pension and Health Benefits
Computer Skills – Excel, Word, Access Database and Outlook
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Specific Tasks Include (but are not limited to):
- Ensure accurate, timely and consistent accounting and financial reporting across the Funds
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and other presentations as necessary for the
Board of Trustees, identifying and explaining variances and important trends
- Prepare audit work papers on an annual basis and work directly with auditors each year
- Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts
- Monitor operations and financial condition of the Funds on a continuous basis
- Have final accountability for timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns
- Establish and maintain comprehensive internal controls to ensure compliance with all laws, rules and generally accepted accounting principles
- Establish accountability, policies and procedures and performance measurements for the prudent administration of the Funds
- Oversee audits by regulatory agencies and other external entities
- Remain current on benefit plan audit best practices and state and federal laws regarding benefit plan operations and tax requirements
- Ensure the proper maintenance of all financial systems and programs
- Mentor and develop an effective support staff person through training, problem resolution and performance evaluation
- Perform as main backup for support staff person
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
