Our 9-bed Intensive Care Department provides highly skilled nursing for critically ill patients. Using advanced patient monitoring technology and sophisticated medical equipment, we provide continuous, comprehensive care for patients with serious conditions, including those recovering from heart attacks, surgery, stroke, severe accidents or complex illnesses. To meet each patient’s unique needs, we follow a multi-disciplinary approach that involves doctors, specially trained nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, physical and respiratory therapists and social services. Our team is dedicated to providing expert healthcare and to treating patients with the compassion and respect that they deserve.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The ICU Charge Nurse collaborates with the Nursing Director to provide leadership and support during each shift, fostering excellence in patient care. Oversees and coordinates daily ICU operations to ensure continuity of high-quality nursing services and ensures appropriate staffing levels to meet patient needs. Serves as a clinical resource by guiding, educating, and supporting ICU staff. Provides advanced clinical support outside the ICU, including early assessment and rapid response interventions. Does not routinely receive a patient care assignment, but actively assists the team as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate's degree in Nursing
- Two years of Critical Care - Nursing experience (Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement 4.2.1 this position requires two years of experience as a staff nurse, one of which must be at CPH)
- State of Alaska RN License
- BLSP (CPR) from the American Heart Association
- ACLS & PALS from the American Heart Association are required within 6 months of hire
- Emergency Nursing Pediatic Course (ENPC) may be substituted for PALS
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is required within 6 months of hire
- Trauma Care After Recusitation (TCAR) may be substituted for TNCC
