What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Technician position at Central Peninsula Hospital?
POSITION SUMMARY: Perform complex and confidential processing of bi-weekly payroll for the organization, which includes: providing guidance to departments regarding payroll inputs, auditing timecards, applying retroactive adjustments, analyzing payroll system calculations for accuracy, and processing payments including advances, terminations, tax deposits and deductions.
Assist with reporting and fulfill requests for information related to the timekeeping and payroll software. Performs calculations to accurately reconcile payroll activity, may need to interpret Federal and State regulations, monitor retirement and fringe benefit deductions, and investigate and resolve discrepancies in coordination with managers and Human Resources staff.
This position may also assist with regularly occurring department functions such as performing records management, preparing daily bank deposit, acting as a backup to accounts payable, and other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years of administrative advance level experience with increasing variety and/or complexity
PREFERRED:
- Two years of experience in Accounting-Payroll
- Fundamental Payroll Certification from the American Payroll Association
- Certified Payroll Professional from the American Payroll Association
