What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sonographer position at Central Peninsula Hospital?
POSITION SUMMARY: The Sonographer I performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations as ordered by the provider and directed by the radiologist. Utilizing a high level of clinical expertise, the Sonographer I demonstrates the ability to recognize both normal and abnormal anatomy and evaluates the appropriateness of provider orders based on the patient’s clinical signs and symptoms. They determine proper positioning and scan parameters for each study, ensuring clear and accurate images that document relevant anatomy, providing the radiologist with all necessary information for diagnosis. Examination findings are documented on the appropriate work sheet or exam form. The Sonographer I possesses knowledge of basic nursing skills and sterile procedures to assist the radiologist with biopsy procedures when necessary. A positive customer service attitude is maintained in all interactions, with professionalism and courtesy upheld at all times. The Sonographer I accepts personal responsibility for professional practice by adhering to industry standards and carries out all responsibilities in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or Ultrasound OR
- Ultrasound Certification
- One year of Imaging - Ultrasound experience
- Registry Eligible for ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI required
- BLSP (CPR) from the American Heart Association within 30 days of employment
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography from ARDMS within one year of employment OR
- Sonography or Vascular Sonography from ARRT within one year of employment OR
- Registered Vascular Specialist from CCI within one year of employment
