General Function
Performs a variety of administrative and counseling duties that assist students in making career decisions, meeting employers, and managing the job search process.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Counsels students regarding the career development process, including administering and interpreting career assessment instruments such as the Myers-Briggs Inventory and Strong Interest Inventory.
2. Designs and implements outreach programs to promote and encourage use of Career Services by students, faculty, and staff.
3. Advises students individually and in class presentations regarding resume writing, interviewing and job search skills.
4. Develops promotional materials and strategies for the department.
5. Assists students in finding career information on the web.
6. Updates assigned web pages or other marketing materials.
7. Works collaboratively with faculty members to promote and provide career services.
8. Assists employers and works in a team to host hiring events.
9. Advises and counsels undecided students through the career development process.
10. Assists in the orientation process for new students with emphasis on career information, exploration, and selection.
11. Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Counseling, Student Development or a related field and one year experience in career counseling (in a college career services office or related setting preferred)
