What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Marketing and Communications position at Central Presbyterian Church, Des Moines?
Purpose:
The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for planning, guiding, and implementing internal and external communication strategies directed toward each of Central Presbyterian’s key stakeholder groups – members, regular worship attendees and other prospective members, residents of Greater Des Moines, and Central Iowa media.
Primary Responsibilities
· Develop and Implement a Communications Plan and budget that reflects Central’s brand and programmatic activities and that addresses each of its key stakeholder groups.
· Prepare and produce or oversee production of all communication materials (digital, audio, video, and print, including dmcpc.org website and social media accounts.)
· Collaborate with staff, Marketing/Communications Committee, and other church committees/groups to ensure that each group’s communication needs are addressed in the Communications Plan and are developed and delivered in a timely manner.
· Stay informed on developments within the field of marketing and communications.
Other Responsibilities
· Participate in staff meetings and meetings of the Marketing/Communications Committee.
· Participate in meetings of other committees/groups as necessary
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field
· At least 3-4 years’ experience in communications/marketing
· Strong, versatile copywriting and design skills
· Photography skills
· Good organizational, planning, and coordination skills
· Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize as needed
· Desire to take full ownership of assigned projects and work independently
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
· Strong people skills and ability to build collaborative relationships
· Good verbal presentation, group dynamic, and facilitation skills
· Initiative-taking approach in resolving problems and issues

Job Information
Performance will be reviewed at least annually.
This position requires the ability to work flexible hours to meet the programmatic ministry of the church and to accommodate the seasonal aspects of Christian ministry.
Annual salary: $18.00-$25.00/hour
