Job Summary
The Drafting Team Leader is directly responsible for the overall Technical, coordination, work evaluation, and job reports of the detailing department. The team leader is also responsible for participating in the personal evaluation and training for the individuals report to them. They are Responsible for day-to-day production of metal building drafting and detailing. Able to multitask and work under tight deadlines. Conducts drawing and detailing of metal building structures and works with outside and inside sales.

Minimum Required
Work is performed in a shared office space. This role will routinely utilize standard office equipment to perform the core functions listed in this job description. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies (up to 35 lbs) as well as communicate verbally and electronically. The work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive reading to perform the core functions listed in this job description. While performing the core function of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and stand.

Core Functions (Mini Storage Or Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings)
- Responsible for detailing/drafting Groups.
- Able to draw and detail self-storage projects, or pre-engineered metal buildings using AutoCAD, MBS, TEKLA, or other computer aided drafting technology.
- Interprets construction drawings, contracts, and specifications as well as verbal instructions.
- Provides sales with the necessary building design details to meet customer requests.
- Able to meet multiple project deadlines while providing accurate project deliverables.
- Provides accurate redlined revisions to drawings and material parts lists.
- Able to learn and participate in product development relating to engineering products, marketing and installation guidelines.
- Interacts with internal and external customers to clarify project scope, details, and product limitations.
- Communicate with internal customers regarding requests for project information, status, and schedule.
- Apply efficient scheduling for all team members and balance orders intake and team availability with client's demand.
- Review claims on projects and apply proper route cause report that include problem solving.
- Administration functions such as plotting, binding, and mailing drawings as required.
- Participate in following up with orders that will require outsource drafting for complex self-storage or pre-engineered metal buildings.
- Focus on achieving department objective and profitability goals and continuous improvement as part of a high-performance work team
Key Measures of Success
- Ability to oversee the successful production of drawings and accurate material parts lists to support the sales and installation of our metal building products.
- Proficient in AutoCAD or comparable design software.
- Ability to perform communication and tracking reports on Microsoft office or other ERP system work.
- Self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks.
- Must have strong written and verbal communications skills and display exceptional customer service.
- Ability to work within a cooperative team environment as well as perform assignments autonomously.

Minimum Required
- Associate or 2-year technical degree or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
- Proficient in Algebra and Trigonometry
- CAD training
- 4 years pre-engineered building (PEB), Mini Storage or General Steel detailing experience
- Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree
- 3-5 years' experience with AutoCAD, MBS, Revit, or TEKLA software is preferred.
