Job Description:
Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Reading/Resource Teacher. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital part in providing remedial instruction to students experiencing educational difficulties in participating nonpublic schools.
**Responsibilities:**
* Administer benchmark and diagnostic tests to determine program eligibility and/or withdrawal from program.
* Maintain accurate records on each participating student.
* Coordinate instructional activities with school administrators, classroom teachers, related staff, and parents.
* Plan and implement academic intervention support to students in reading and math.
* Regularly update the nonpublic database to include services provided to each student and monitor student outcomes.
* Provide pre- and post-testing of students to determine the appropriate type and level of services needed.
* Serve as CSIU liaison with nonpublic schools to which assigned.
* Provide periodic reports in writing to parents.
* Share materials with schools and other Act 89 staff.
* Coordinate services with the Equitable Participation coordinator and district Title I staff.
* Submit all required student data and paperwork in a timely fashion.
**Requirements:**
* Bachelor's degree in education and a valid Pennsylvania Reading Specialist K-12 certification is required.
* Prior experience as a classroom teacher is preferred.
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues, co-workers, community agency personnel, and students/trainees.
* Ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships using tact and diplomacy and to remain calm in unpredictable situations.
* Maintain confidentiality regarding education programs, students, and parents at all times adhering to the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements to protect staff and student data.
