What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Aide-Custodian position at Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit?
Nutrition Aide - Custodian
Part-time position.
The Nutrition Aide / Custodian will be responsible for the pick-up or accepting the food for the lunch-time meal, helping to serve food, cleaning up of meals, and assistance on maintaining a clean facility.
Responsibilities:
- Shop for breakfast/snack groceries and other items needed in the classroom.
- Pick up, transport and/or accept the food for the programs located at the Watsontown Children's Center. Keep food warm or cold until time of serving.
- Help to serve food to the children, parent volunteers and CSIU staff.
- Clean up after the meals, wash any dishes or containers, prepare containers to send back to the district building.
- General center clean-up, e.g., sweep floors, empty trash, clean bathroom, fill Clorox bottles, mop floors, scour sinks, clean mirrors, clean garbage cans, etc.
- Return pots and any utensils to the school district, if necessary.
- Order paper products from office at least two weeks before items are needed.
- Keep a running inventory of supplies and store supplies neatly in cupboards, closets and/or shelves.
- Post one copy of the school age and early childhood menu in the Center, review one copy and send to the Food and Education Programs Administrative Assistant for any revisions.
- Nutrition Aide/Custodian will be notified of any revisions to the lunch menu and will be responsible for seeing that corrections/additions are made.
- Send a copy of the menu at the end of each month to the Food and Education Programs Administrative Assistant with any substitutions or revisions recorded.
- Follow all Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines and regulations.
- Follow all ServSafe guidelines and regulations.
- Maintain Safe Serve certification and follow guidelines and regulations from the Department of Ag.
- Maintain record keeping in regard to the van mileage and upkeep (gas, inspection, maintenance requests, etc.)
- Maintain a current physical on a biennial schedule.
Requirements:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED) is required.
- Knowledge of CACFP guidelines preferred.
- Must have an interest in and concern for children and their families.
- Must have a willingness to learn.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and practice good sanitary procedures.
- Must have ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues, co-workers, community agency personnel, and students/trainees.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Current, approved Act 34 (PA State Police), Act 151 (PA Child Abuse Registry) and Act 114-FBI Fingerprint clearances are required and must be renewed at appropriate, specific intervals pursuant to Act 153 of 2014 (revised Act 15 of 2015).
- Current, approved Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training certificate showing completion of a minimum of three (3) hours training every five (5) years.
