Summary of Position
Responsible for educating and training students in various aspects of automotive systems, including diagnostics, repair, and maintenance. This role involves developing and delivering curriculum, providing hands-on instruction, assessing student progress, and fostering strong industry connections to prepare students for successful careers in the automotive field.
Minimum Required Education
Associates Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education in Automotive Technology or a closely related field required.
Minimum Required Experience
- 3-to-5 years of recent paid work experience, exclusive of teaching
- ASE Certifications : G-1 Maintenance & Light Repair, A-4 Suspension & Steering, A-5 Brakes, A-6 Electrical / Electronic Systems OR
- ASE Certifications within one year of hire
- Preferred : Master ASE
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of :
1. automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical components.
2. various diagnostic tools, equipment, and industry-standard repair procedures.
3. automotive technology trends and emerging technologies.
4. instructional design and adult learning principles.
5. OSHA safety standards and hazardous material requirements
Skill to :
1. communicate effectively and present / convey complex technical concepts.
2. solve problems and think critically.
3. use diagnostic equipment and tools for hands-on demonstrations.
4. organize and manage time and tasks.
5. use an LMS (e.g., Blackboard) to deliver curriculum and track student progress.
6. work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
Ability to :
1. engage and motivate students with various learning styles and backgrounds.
2. design and deliver hands-on training activities and assessments.
3. maintain industry partnerships and collaborate with local businesses.
4. stay current with advancements in automotive technology
5. update curriculum accordingly.
