Job Overview
To ensure our youngest children have a solid foundation for life. Encourage the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of CTSA's children, and to attend to their safety and welfare. Promote family engagement within all aspects of the program. To meet requirements of Federal Head Start Performance Standards, DHS standards and any local, state and/or agency policies and procedures.
Duties
- · Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
· Write routine reports and correspondence and submit them in a timely manner.
· Ability to speak effectively with parents and other employees of the organization in a professional manner.
· Ability to work as a team member collaborating with other employees, families and community resources.
· Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Ability to supervise and monitor children at all times to ensure a safe environment. This includes the physical ability to monitor and move quickly in order to respond to children who are very active and may need restraint or redirection in order to insure their safety or the safety of others.
· Ability to interact with children at their eye level, ie. Sitting, kneeling, stooping, and bending. (80-100%)
· Computer proficiency, Word, Excel, Publisher, other applications.
· Knowledge of basic office equipment: copy, fax, voice mail, etc.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills.
· Knowledgeable of community resources available to families.
· Ability to create and maintain lesson plans.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- Strong classroom management abilities to maintain an orderly learning environment.
- Experience in teaching physical education or related subjects is preferred.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
- Experience working with children in various educational settings, including childcare or tutoring roles.
- Proven ability in lesson planning that meets diverse learning needs within the classroom.
