The Wood Shop Worker is responsible for building, repairing, and assembling wood components used in steel manufacturing processes such as shipping crates, pallets, and protective packaging. This role requires operating woodworking tools and machines while maintaining a safe and organized environment.
- Construct, assemble, and repair wooden crates, skids, and other packaging materials for steel products
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and specifications to ensure proper product dimensions and quality.
- Operate power tools and machinery such as saws, drills, nail guns, and sanders safely and efficiently.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood materials to required dimensions with precision.
- Ensure all wood products meet quality standards and are durable for steel transportation and storage.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area, adhering to company safety regulations.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials as needed.
- Work closely with other departments, including shipping and production, to meet production schedules.
- Inspect finished products for defects and make necessary repairs.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
