Purpose
As a Field Technology Specialist at Central Valley Ag, you will be responsible for protecting crops from pests and diseases using precision drone technology, including agronomic imaging and chemical application. You will promote and apply products and services via UAVs utilizing the latest precision agronomy technologies. The role involves developing, implementing, and applying GIS-based prescription data in various environments throughout the growing season.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate drones for aerial application of nutrients and treatments with pinpoint accuracy.
- Develop and maintain relationships with team members and collaborate effectively to achieve company goals.
- Stay updated on the latest in drone technology and agricultural best practices to deliver top-tier service.
- Ensure compliance with all aviation regulations and safety procedures during drone operations.
- Work alongside Field Sales Agronomist’s to expand and build the UAV precision application customer base.
- Maintain and enhance customer satisfaction through professional communication and problem-solving.
- Participate in company training programs to continually develop drone piloting skills and stay ahead in the field.
- Assist in all Operations as needed.
- Seek out and explore new field technology opportunities.
- Will need to be able to travel all CVA territory for done application needs.
- Ability to multi-task several assignments simultaneously and establish job priorities.
- Maintains and promotes a safe work environment.
- Maintains accurate inventory and inventory control.
- Can plan, prioritize, organize, and manage resources to accomplish goals within the defined timetable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge
- Valid Driver’s License, with Class A CDL (or ability to obtain).
- Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certificate (Category 1A).
- Obtain or ability to obtain FAA drone 107.
- Class III Medical Card.
- Nebraska Custom Aerial Application license and other necessary endorsements.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to choose and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) based on need, regulation, and labeling.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and climb or balance.
- Occasionally will need to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.
- Frequently need to climb ladders (ranging from 20' to 180') and stairs.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to understand and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs in various work environments.
- Overnight stays will be required at times if workload requires it.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work long seasonal hours in varying weather conditions.
