What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Controller position at Central Valley Ag?
Purpose
As a Corporate Controller at Central Valley Ag, you will be accountable for the administrative and financial management operations of the Company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees preparation of month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements.
Develops tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to management team.
Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports and advising management on an at needed basis.
Oversees the Accounting Department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions.
Maintains a professional accounting staff by coaching and counseling employees.
Plans, assigns, and directs work of subordinates.
Completes performance appraisals, rewards employees, disciplines employees, addresses complaints and resolves employee problems in conjunction with the division leads.
Serves as a key point of contact for external auditors, manager preparation and support of all external audits.
May perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 4 to 6 employees.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in conjunction with division heads. Focus on highly engaged workforce with great communication skills.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Have a four-year degree in a related field and/or five years related experience.
Takes responsibility for the way money and resources are used and managed.
