Description
Central Valley Indian Health, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Dental Assistant. The incumbent holds a "Safety Sensitive" position, and works under general and direct supervision of the Dentist in the treatment of patients in a clinical setting. Knowledgeable and sufficiently skilled in all phases of dental assisting, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and their families. Willingness to learn new skills and procedures, and possess a basic understanding of dental terminology. Responsible for HIPAA Compliance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Proficient in all phases of four handed assisting for all dental procedures and in parallel and bisecting angle radiographic methods and as well digital radiographic techniques.
- Familiar with dental terminology, medications and instruments used in the above procedures.
- Clean, sterilize and maintain adequate supply of instruments for treatment and spore test the autoclave weekly for biological testing.
- Provide preventive dental education to clinic patients and community groups under the supervision of the dentist.
- Perform laboratory duties, i.e. pour / trim models, etc.
- Maintain the supply inventory and necessary supplies.
- Maintain clean and orderly operatory, sterilization area and laboratory.
- Maintain equipment including hand pieces with daily sterilization and lubrication.
- Take blood pressures on patients and give the patient post-extraction instructions.
- Expand duties to the full extent of the law.
- Communicate in a friendly and professional manner to others. Provide excellent service / support to all patients, employees, and outside contacts.
- Any other duties assigned to the employee by his or her direct supervisor or CVIH Administration.
