We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Refrigeration/Utility Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for performing preventative, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on plant assets, ensuring efficient operations and the reliability of critical systems. The ideal candidate will work with a variety of equipment, including ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers, water systems, compressed air systems, and fire protection systems, to sustain and improve plant performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance on the plants ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers, water systems, compressed air systems, and fire protection systems, ensuring they run efficiently and safely.
- Follow and support company policies and procedures, including regulatory PSM/RMP standards, to maintain compliance with all applicable safety and environmental guidelines.
- Monitor system performance and conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve any issues proactively.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace faulty components within mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to improve system reliability, reduce downtime, and ensure the overall efficiency of plant operations.
- Participate in emergency response and breakdown maintenance, ensuring prompt resolution of critical issues to minimize operational disruptions.
- Stay current on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies relevant to the role.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least 5 years of experience in ammonia refrigeration systems maintenance is preferred.
- RETA certification as a Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years experience working with boilers and compressed air systems is preferred.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of control circuits and system components.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics for troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and process issues.
- Basic PC skills for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to work in various physical environments, including confined spaces and heights.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
