Central Valley Regional Center (CVRC) is a non-profit corporation, funded by the State of California to provide services to persons with developmental disabilities. At CVRC, our mission is to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and children at risk, to reach their goals. With offices in Merced, Fresno, and Visalia, we support over 27,000 individuals with developmental disabilities in the Central Valley, including Mariposa, Madera, Fresno, Tulare, Merced, and Kings counties. We accomplish this by coordinating resources and collaborating with other agencies to develop the best services for Clients and families, valuing diversity, respecting individual rights and choices, and committing to excellence, honesty, and cost effectiveness in service delivery.
Exempt Part Time
Starting Pay: $50– $60/hr.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under general supervision, the Psychologist provides eligibility reviews, consultation services, and assessments when necessary. Review clinical psychological evaluation reports, educational records, mental health records, and other specialist documents to determine eligibility for regional center applicants. Face to face psychological evaluations with consumers and families, if deemed necessary. Participate in fair hearing processes that include appeals for eligibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Interprets psychological test results from a variety of sources, including contract clinical psychologists, school psycho-educational reports, and/or private clinical psychological reports.
- Operates effectively on a multidisciplinary team to determine diagnosis and eligibility.
- Effectively communicates findings and recommendations to appropriate individuals.
- Consults with and provides department director with recommendations on needed assessment tools and training required for psychologists.
- Provides consultation, education and training to staff, student interns and other community agencies, parents, and consumers.
- Participates in the agency fair hearing process.
- Serves as a resource professional to service coordinators and intake counselors, regarding known research, best practice, and diagnostic criteria.
- Identifies, coordinates, and provides information on benefits and services.
- Supports effective and efficient business practice.
- Maintains positive business relationships, confidentiality, good attendance, punctuality, and acts in accordance with all company policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of a license as a psychologist issued by the California State Board of Psychology.
- Has substantial experience in services to individuals with developmental disability needs.
- Understanding of developmental disabilities and related conditions.
- Skilled in clinical psychological assessment and various assessment instruments.
- Provide consultation and direction to designated staff.
- Ability to relate to others comfortably and be able to establish and maintain effective relationships.
- Ability to work in a detailed, organized manner prioritizing varies work assignments and complete documentation within required timelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, knowledge of word processing, Dictaphone and software for consumer documentation, e-mail and other required computerized functions.
- Must demonstrate initiative, self-motivation, sound independent judgment, flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent written and oral communication abilities.
PREFEERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual proficiency desirable.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have the ability to travel within CVRC’s six-county-wide region as assigned or required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Professional office environment. Noise level in the office is low to moderate depending on area. Individual workspace is assigned and varies from open cubicle to private office.
