SUMMARY: Central Vermont Career Center (CVCC) and into our regional communities. The Coop Coordinator connects with area employers and organizations, building professional, respectful, and sustainable relationships in collaboration with the respective instructor. These relationships provide the catalyst for students to access the learning opportunities found in the work environment and build technical and general employability skills. The Coop Coordinator reports to the Director of CVCC and the Assistant Director in absence of the Director.QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed Cooperative Career and Technical Education Coordinator/Work-Based Learning Coordinator.Knowledge of local, state and federal wage, hour and safety laws, especially those related to child labor, training and risk management policies.Knowledge of local economic development and labor markets; post-secondary career and educational opportunities; business, industry, and community organizations and resources; current and trending workplace practices, including pre-employment screening.RESPONSIBILITIES: Creates, develops, and maintains professional, respectful and sustainable relationship with area employers and businesses, acts as a liaison for CVCC and area businessesUtilizing teachers recommendations, creates and supervises pathways from school to work, ie: job shadows, paid and unpaid Career Work Experiences, and apprenticeships for CVCC students; including Coop program application process and interviews.Ensures that all cooperative work experiences that students participate in follow State and Federal child labor laws, OSHA regulations, etc.Complete sex offender checks on employers for student safety.Develops training plans in collaboration with program teacher, student and employer for coop placements.Create and maintain forms for co-op and CWEs, manage dataCreate and maintain feedback forms for employers, analyze dataCollect and maintain data on student wage and hours.
Provide labor, wage and hour information to the CVCC board (Program Presentation)Maintain records of all WBL experiences, create end of year report for the stateCompletes job sites visits once a month to ensure they are OSHA safe and check in with supervisorsProvides employability skills training at least once every other month in each program (for example, resume workshops and mock interviews)Create and distribute monthly evaluations to supervisors, collect and evaluate data with program instructors.Create an end of year survey for co-op students to evaluate data.Create an end of year survey for employers for feedback.Attend student meetings as needed.Maintain attendance data and complete weekly one on one check-ins with co-op studentsMaintain job boards, act as a liaison for job opportunities with local businesses.Assists teachers in developing and maintaining strong Advisory Committees, serving on several.Assists instructors with identifying possible field trip locations and company visits to the program, providing contact information and outreach support.Attends meetings and events as the liaison for CVCC to area service and community organizations such as Hireability VT, CVEDC, Barre Partnership, etc.Organizes CVCC participation in community outreach events such as the local job fair.Participates in and attends the meetings of the state Cooperative Education Coordinators group.Supports the organization and outreach for CVCCs Trades Fair.Assists as needed with CVCC eventsCommunicates regularly with the Director and/or Assistant DirectorCoordinates the scheduling of transportation for cooperative education placementsServes on any CVCC team meetings or committees as appointed by the DirectorOther duties as assigned.This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement.
