What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Assistant 2 position at CENTRAL VIRGINIA HEALTH SERVICES INC?
PURPOSE: To support the delivery of medical services through the direct provision of medical care by performing basic clinical support duties and medical and administrative tasks. Clinical Assistant II is the job title for all certified clinical assistants (CNA- Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT- Emergency Medical Technician). The Clinical Assistant II may not be promoted to Team Leader.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs tasks pertinent to age of patient (infancy to geriatric)
Maintains accurate inventory of medical supplies; assists in the selection of division equipment and supplies.
Performs all clinical assistant duties following the nursing procedures (with the exception of venipuncture, injections, IVs and IV medications, triage) as directed by the clinician according to the guidelines in the Nursing Procedure Manual.
Clinical Assistant Duties as followed upon competency training:
Obtain Nursing intake as listed in the Nursing Procedure to include measuring of vital signs, documentation in the electronic medical records.
Preparing examination rooms, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized environment
Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and transport according to clinic protocols.
Prepare instruments for sterilization
Support healthcare providers during medical procedures, examinations, and treatments. Set up equipment, assist with minor procedures, and provide comfort and reassurance to patients.
Use assessment skills in Emergency situation and follow standing orders in emergency situations.
Assists in quality assurance and control.
Participates in the continuing educational process and renewal of certifications per state guidelines.
Assists in the efficient flow of patients.
Attends work as scheduled.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Tuberculosis screening annually. Employee will either receive Hepatitis B vaccine, if needed, or sign a declination statement.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program or (EMT) Emergency Medical Technician Program
One years experience in a health facility, preferred.
Current CPR certification, preferred
