What are the responsibilities and job description for the FISCAL TECHNICIAN INSURANCE position at CENTRAL VIRGINIA HEALTH SERVICES INC?
PURPOSE: To assist with the fiscal functions of the Center and to coordinate the filing of insurance claims and the processing of insurance payments and patient payments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Processing incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Responsible for submitting medical claims to insurance companies and payers such as Medicare and Medicaid.
The duties include working with payers to resolve issues and facilitate prompt payment of claims.
Responsible for all insurance follow-upon assigned accounts to include research, insurance billing and adjustment identification to ensure proper account resolution.
Posts payments and/or denials from insurance remits.
Responsible for entering insurance payments, patient payments, contractual adjustments, and refunds in the Patient Accounting system.
Properly communicates and documents payment denials in the practice management system and to the appropriate billing representative in a timely manner.
Keep records of customer interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, and comments, as well as actions taken.
Resolve customers' service or billing complaints by performing activities such as correcting and refilling insurance claims or/ and adjusting bills. Check to ensure that appropriate changes were made to resolve customers' problems. Contact customers in order to respond to inquiries or to notify them of claim investigation results and any planned adjustments.

Third Party insurance billing experience desirable
CPT and ICD 10 coding experience desirable
