BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs a wide variety of duties in the grain elevator plant. Performs heavy manual labor in most job duties.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (be willing to work overtime, weekend and nights on a sliding scale)
  • Must exhibit a regular and prompt attendance, reporting to work on-time and as scheduled.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong ability to multi-task.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.

Due to safety guidelines, must be able to understand and speak English

ESSENTIAL DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the unloading of rail-cars.
  • Observe conveyor operations and monitor lights, dials, and gauges.
  • Observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions.
  • Inform supervisors of equipment malfunctions that need to be addressed.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, machinery, and work stations.
  • Perform general clean-up of plant including sweeping, painting, and other general housekeeping duties.
  • Load, unload, and move material to and from storage areas as needed.
  • Load trucks with products using front-end loaders and transfer augers.
  • Maintain storage areas to ensure inventory is protected.
  • Help with the daily rail-car movement.
  • Work the ground to spot rail-cars on the correct tracks. Operate rail switches.
  • Operate rail-car hand brakes.
  • Perform all job duties and related tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Practice and encourage workplace safety.

Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • This job can be physically demanding from time to time.
  • You will be expected to be able to work in tight and confined spaces, walk, climb, bend, kneel, lift, grip, grasp, push and pull various tools and equipment.
  • This job may require occasional work at significant heights
  • You will need the ability to occasionally lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
  • This job will require the ability to ascend/descend ladders.
  • Clarity of speech and hearing that permits the employee to communicate effectively.
  • Clarity of vision to include; near and far vision, ability to focus while operating equipment, and ability to read printed materials.
  • Manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate equipment, load and unload products, and move products.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a physical job that includes both indoor and outdoor work in all types of weather and temperature conditions. The worker needs to be able to work in environments with high dust levels. This job may include working at heights and in confined spaces. Various noise levels are present in the work environment, from low to loud.
