What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at Central West Produce?
Central West Produce is a well-established and successful sales and farming company, located on California’s scenic central coast. We are proud to be a renowned grower and marketer, with well over 2,000 acres of conventional and organic strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries. We continue to strive to produce the highest quality crops while continually developing and implementing farming techniques to ensure continuous growth.
Essential Functions
· Performs customer service functions by answering or assisting employee requests, questions and/or concerns.
· Assists with processing terminations, effectively and on timely manner.
· Exporting and importing new hires to our HRIS and ensuring accuracy.
· Responds to reference checks and verifications of employment status.
· Prepare and process weekly payroll as needed; ensure all data is complete and error free before payroll deadlines.
· Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information as needed.
· Data entry/creating spreadsheets.
· Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
· Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and requirements.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Minimum Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required, plus one year of office/clerical support experience.
· Bi-lingual, Spanish and English
· Excellent computer skills, especially Excel, Work, etc.
· Exceptional organizational skills, with ability to work independently
· Strong customer service skills
· Must be reliable and precise - attention to detail important
· Ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment
· Self-motivated and team-oriented
Preferred Qualifications
· 2 years of payroll or human resources experience
· Experience with Pet Tiger and Famous Software
