Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Department: Operations
Position Overview: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, overhauling and repairing stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure safety policies, housekeeping rules and guidelines, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed
Interpret blueprints and schematics when working on machines
Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
Ability to detect, isolate and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment
Ability to Troubleshoot PLC’s
Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, hydraulic, pneumatic and vacuum systems
Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
Operate machine tools such as welders, lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery
Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work on machinery
Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment
Perform preventative maintenance
Complete all paperwork as required
Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent required
Minimum of 5 years’ mechanical and equipment experience in an industrial environment
Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation
Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting and repairing various types of machinery and equipment
Able to weld and fabricate new parts to replace defective parts during machine setup, maintenance or overhaul
Thorough knowledge of load bearing capabilities of the equipment to be installed, assembled or dismembered
Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals and specifications
Good written and verbal communication skills
Overtime may be required
