Central WV Community Action, Inc. is seeking a dynamic and talented Finance Director to join our team. The new Finance Director will be responsible for all aspects of the organization’s accounting and financial functions, working closely with the Executive Director to drive strategic operations.
The preferred candidate should be a leader in financial analysis, audit processes, asset management, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including generally accepted accounting principles.
In addition, the Finance Director should be an expert at providing strategic vision and oversight for all functions of the organization’s fiscal office, including bookkeeping, accounts payable, payroll, donation reconciliations, staff management, and accurate tracking of funding sources and funding allocations. Critical functions of the position include oversight of the budgeting process and reporting for over $5 million in federal funding.

Central WV Community Action, Inc. is a private, nonprofit agency founded in 1967 to address the root causes of poverty. The agency operates major programs in Harrison, Lewis, Gilmer, Marion, Ritchie, and Taylor Counties, with minimal services offered in a wider region.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Develop and implement financial goals, policies, procedures, methods, projects, and controls
- Direct accounting activities, including maintenance of general ledgers, analysis of computer-generated data, and review of payroll records
- Prepare monthly reports as required by state and federal regulations, profit-loss statements, annual corporate tax returns, and special financial reports, studies, and analyses
- Develop and maintain internal audit control systems
- Develop and administer the cash management program
- Provide data, reports, and other information to assist in the preparation of the annual budget, as well as grant and program budgets
- Forecast revenues, expenditures, and year-end balances
- Plan, design, implement and modify the data processing systems
- Prepare and revise the fiscal operations procedure manual as needed
- Coordinate with other departments concerning short- and long-range fiscal needs and plans
- Respond to requests for information
- Supervise daily accounting operations, especially the certification and signing of payroll and cash disbursements
- Select, train, supervise and evaluate accounting staff
- Other duties and functions as requested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Preparing financial statements, reports, and analyses as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in Accounting or Business Administration with an accounting concentration
- CPA preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in accounting
- Nonprofit accounting and federal grants management experience strongly preferred
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office suite
- Advanced experience with data entry and payroll programs
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Acceptable pre-employment criminal background check, protective service record check, credit check and others as required by grantmaking entities.
- Evening, weekend, and/or overnight travel as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
