TITLE: Nursing Instructor 9-12

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Limited teaching experience: Applicants who are not certified teachers will be supported with mentorship and instructional coaching to learn best practices in teaching and learning as well as completing the state’s process for alternative teacher licensure.
Career and Technical Authorization: Applicants DO NOT need to be certified teachers to apply. The Initial Career and Technical Authorization can be obtained through the Board of Educational Examiners. This alternative license is valid for three years and may be issued to an applicant who has 6000 hours (or 4000 hours and a bachelor’s degree) working in an approved career and technical area, and if a district conducted a diligent search to find a fully licensed applicant. To convert to the full career and technical authorization, the applicant must complete the requirements in 282-22.9(6). Renewal: The full career and technical authorization is valid for five years and requires six renewal credits and the mandatory reporter training certificate.
Required:
1. Associates in Nursing Degree (ADN)
2. BCLS Certification
3. Iowa RN License
4. Eligible for DMACC or Community College certification (Three or more years of non-teaching work experience in the career field).
5. Eligible for Career and Technical Authorization Teaching License.
6. Strong Curriculum Knowledge.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for planning and delivering high-quality educational programs preparing students for careers by offering industry certifications, college-level curriculum, and partnerships with business and industry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide relevant career and technical program instruction to students including business and industry standards, skill development, knowledge and performance assessments, employability, equipment safety, and work-based learning opportunities in the community.
- Collaborate with students, families, and staff to create a positive and safe learning environment.
- Use technology effectively for instruction and recordkeeping.
- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with business, industry, and college partners related to the field.
- Design and deliver instruction to meet the standards and criteria of the State of Iowa Teaching Standards, DMPS policies and procedures, business and industry standards, and college policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional learning communities and professional development.
- Manage program budgets.
ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (for every DMPS position):
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Standing, walking, sitting, bending/stooping, reaching/pushing/pulling, lifting carrying
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mostly indoors with some outdoor responsibilities during recess and arrival/dismissal
