Qualifications :
- Degree / Education : Master's degree in Family Health / Primary Care Nursing. Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support : Certified in the specialty required by the TO as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, and BLS. ACLS and PALS desired, but not required.
Experience : 2 years of full-time experience as a Family Health Nurse Practitioner, including recent experience (within the last 6 months) working with pediatric patients, 0-17 years of age.
Licensure / Registration : Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Family Health NP.
Job Responsibilities :
Provides comprehensive and a full range of outcome-based Nurse Practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions, diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).Diagnoses and treats patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and / or in consultation with a physician.Performs minor procedures and treatments, as needed, and in accordance with scope of practice to include, but not limited to, punch biopsies, wart removal, shave biopsies, minor suturing, toenail removal, abscess incision & drainage, suture removal, joint injections, and Pap exams. Additionally, performs procedures such as intravenous (IV) line placement, dressing changes, wound irrigation, oxygen administration, and specimen collection.Orders / prescribes medications and adjusts dosage according to patient’s age, needs, and responses, to include appropriate dosing, side effects, and medication interactions based on assessment results and standards of care.Orders and interprets diagnostic tests, such as labs and imaging studies as well as specialty provider referrals.Educates patients and family members on diagnosis, discusses treatment options and makes recommendations, and ensures patients / family members have information required to provide informed consent for treatment.Promotes preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling. Teaches patients and family members healthy regimens and responsibility for achieving wellness.Communicates and collaborates with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans / actions, for teaching / education to benefit the patient / family and organization.Recognizes conditions that require isolation and ensures universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.Establishes collaborative rapport with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, Registered Nurses, and other staff members to promote and facilitate primary care services. Mentors junior staff, as needed.Attends daily huddles and monthly staff meetings (Pro-staff and ECOMS) and participates in case discussion for continuing education and continuous quality improvement and safety.Exhibits skillfulness and tact when communicating with patients (and parents) during all aspects of care. Advocates for and ensures appropriate education is provided to patients and their families. Also exhibits a professional and courteous demeanor with clinic staff members.Possesses organization, problem-solving, and communication skills to articulate medical requirements to patients, families / caregivers, and medical / non-medical staff in a professional and courteous manner.Maintains all required certifications, completes annual Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and other required MDG staff training in a timely manner.Responds to and assists in MTF patient emergency situations.Participates in monthly provider Peer Review program and submits reports in a timely manner.Performs other duties, as required, to include covering for other Primary Care & Women’s Health providers in their absence.Schedule : 07 : 30 am to 04 : 30 pm Eastern Standard Time on Monday through Friday, not to exceed 40 hours per week
