What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crisis Intervention Team/Critical Incident Coordinator (CIT) position at Centre County, Pennsylvania?
- Coordinates and organizes the semi-annual Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) trainings to include the following:
- Schedules training dates and training location
- Coordinates community on-site visits, including mental health providers, individual/family meetings, etc.
- Schedules presenters,
- Updates, maintains and distributes training materials for each participant,
- Coordinates registration of training with law enforcement, first responders and criminal justice agencies, and other related agencies
- Maintains financial records and grant related paperwork
- Develops evaluation sheets for training participants and provide feedback to the Steering Committee on participant evaluations
- Develops, schedules and coordinates CIT refresher courses.
- Coordinates the Centre County CIT Steering Committee.
- Coordinates and maintains data on CIT incident calls and presents data to Steering Committee for review.
- Develops other CIT related training curricula in conjunction with the CIT Steering Committee.
- Attends bimonthly Criminal Justice Advisory Board (CJAB) Meetings to provide updates on CIT.
- Attends mental health provider meetings and trainings as requested.
- Attends law enforcement meetings and trainings as requested by law enforcement.
- Attends special committee meetings, trainings, and events as requested by committees.
- Promotes CIT with local law enforcement agencies, criminal justice agencies, local mental health agencies, human service agencies, and NAMI and consumer groups.
- Collaborates with statewide CIT programs to ensure best practices.
- Attends statewide CIT meetings and any statewide or nationwide training as necessary.
- Explores additional grant funding opportunities for CIT Training.

Acts as Centre County Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Coordinator
- Develops policy and procedures supporting county staff in response to a critical incident.
- Develops peer team members for CISMevents
- Coordinates necessary service and/or peer response following critical incident.
- Works with County departments to identify needs based on critical incidents.
- Creates mental health wellness plans for designated county departments.
- Provides relevant trainings to county staff to include de-escalation, Mental Health First Aid and other related trainings.
Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelors degree in social services/human services and criminal justice. Required Experience: Four (4) years of professional level experience in social services/human services and criminal justice.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and a willingness to travel as needed.
