Private Duty Nurse (RN/LPN) – Port Huron, MI Area
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled private duty nurse (RN or LPN) to provide one-on-one care for a 19-year-old male client in the Port Huron area. This rewarding opportunity allows you to make a meaningful impact in a supportive home environment.
About the Client:
He is a sweet and resilient young man with the following medical needs:
✔ Blindness
✔ Chronic respiratory failure
✔ Tracheostomy management & suctioning
✔ Down syndrome & autism
✔ Assistance with nutrition/feeding
✔ Diaper changes (90 lbs)
✔ Fall prevention & mobility assistance
While the client is independent with transfers, he requires support with bathing, self-care, and locomotion. He can walk with assistance, scoot on the floor, and wears leg braces to continue strengthening his mobility.
Home Environment:
✔ Supportive & engaged family – His mother, Helen, is actively involved in his care.
✔ Clean & pet-free home – No pets in the household.
✔ Siblings in the home – A lively but welcoming environment.
Shifts Available:
Location listed as St. Clair, MI on the open shifts board.
Ideal Candidate:
Experience with tracheostomy care, suctioning, and respiratory conditions
Compassionate, patient, and skilled in working with individuals with disabilities
Comfortable assisting with personal care, mobility, and feeding

Responsibilities
- Perform duties outlined in patient's plan of care
- TBI SCI rehabilitation
- Adult/ Pediatrics
- Ventilator and Tracheotomy care (Training Provided)
- Gastrostomy tube care (Training Provided)
- Dispensing medications
- Observe client's physical, mental and emotional conditions.
- Report any changes
- Document observed changes
- Communicates effectively with Clinical team to increase optimal outcomes
- Maintains professional nature within the home setting
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to utilize computers/tablets and computer software
- Current state license as an RN or LPN
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Current negative TB skin test or negative chest X-ray
- CPR certified
