Material Handling Leader
Job Summary: Provides management of various Business Unit manufacturing services, including Shipping & Receiving, Central Stores, Resin, and Scheduling & Customer Service. Provides leadership to assigned Material Handling Team members. Creates and implements team goals and action plans to achieve Material Handling goals. Ensures consistent, high quality and timely manufacturing services which meets customer requirements and exceeds customer expectations. Confirms that the Centro Safety and Quality Systems are implemented in all manufacturing services. Maintains high level of accurate communications among team members, and with all other Business Unit manufacturing Associates. Position responsibilities include: associate safety; increasing team job knowledge, skills, cooperation & enthusiasm; reduction of WIP inventory; resin processing and S&R efficiencies; total customer satisfaction; and enhancing Business Unit profitability.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
1. Associates degree in business or industrial technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The ability and desire to learn and apply new knowledge and skills required. Must have the passion to lead a team towards its achievement of excellence.
2. Five years of manufacturing experience, with two years in a leadership position, is required. Knowledge of Centro’s manufacturing operations, tools & techniques, the Centro Safety & Centro Quality Systems, and ISO 9001 and OSHA requirements is required. 3. Excellent communications, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills are required.
4. Must be able to see, speak, hear, read and write sufficiently for effective communications to perform the essential functions of the job. Must be able to receive and accurately understand detailed information and implement action plans. Must be able to accurately judge depth, distinguish colors and variances.
5. Ability to operate all basic tools and equipment used in Centro’s manufacturing processes, and common office equipment, including Centro’s computer system and applicable software for manufacturing planning & communications, copier, telephone and voice mail, FAX and e-mail.
6. Must be able to walk, stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must have substantial dexterity in the hands, fingers, arms and body to feel, reach, lift & bend.

Specific Position Responsibilities:

3. Provides leadership and support to Business Unit Material Handling Team and its members, facilitating their successes.
4. Creates specific individual and team goals and action plans with team members that support Business Unit profitability goals. Plans, coordinates and assists in implementing action plans to achieve team goals.
5. Knows thoroughly all Material Handling, Shipping and Receiving clerk, and resin blending job duties. Trains and coaches team members to achieve the competencies defined in Centro’s Quality System and to perform their job duties in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner. Utilizes cross training where required to ensure backup capability exists for critical processes.
6. Trains and confirms that Material Handling Team members know and practice the Centro Safety & Quality Systems, including basic OSHA safety rules and their responsibilities as defined in Centro’s Quality System.
7. Facilitates team problem solving through root cause analysis and takes corrective/preventive actions.
8. Maintains high level of accurate communications within team and with all other Associates who support and/or participate in the manufacturing process.
9. Maintains close and accurate communications with Business Unit General Manager and other Business Unit Leaders.
10. Conducts semi-annual review and planning sessions with Material Handling Team members according to Centro’s defined process. Builds on strengths and coaches on their areas of performance improvement.
11. Supports business unit goals for Safety, Customer Appreciation, Generating Profits, and Centro Way in key result areas.
12. Monitors on time delivery performance and takes corrective action on recurring problems.
13. Seeks to enforce full box quantity orders.
14. Manages the daily cycle count program. Manages the central stores area (when implemented).
15. Performs other related duties as assigned by the General Manager.
16. Oversees the scheduling of shipments.
17. Schedules and oversees the delivery and blending of resin.
18. Acts in capacity of Material Handler as required
Work Environment & Schedule: Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM. Extended hours, including weekend’s and overnight travel will periodically be necessary in response to customer business requirements. Will commit sufficient time and energy to accomplish responsibilities in a timely manner. Work will be performed primarily in an office environment, with frequent exposure to a manufacturing environment with temperature range of 55 - 100 degrees F.
