The Business Process Leader (BPL) provides leadership and support to manufacturing teams within the business unit. Trains and coaches team members to perform their job duties in a safe and efficient manner. The BPL confirms that all Centro and OSHA safety requirements are practiced and that the Centro Quality System is implemented in all manufacturing processes. Plans material requirements, team manufacturing schedules, manpower allocation and maintains accurate production records. Assists in the establishment of process control methods and leads team members in following them. Facilitates troubleshooting of manufacturing problems and works to continuously improve the process through the development of action plans. The BPL maintains high level of accurate communications among team members and with all other Associates who participate in the manufacturing process. The BPL utilizes Centro Management Operation System (MOS) to achieve short-term and long-term performance expectations.
Relevance and Importance of this Position at Centro, Inc.The Business Process Leader (BPL) is a significant position in our organization. The BPL has responsibility for the overall performance of multiple manufacturing teams by leading them and establishing and implementing new processes, maintaining conformance to established processing practices, and implementation of action plans to achieve specific manufacturing team goals. The BPL must focus on strategic activities required to manage the manufacturing teams; while maintaining and practicing a hands-on best practices approach when required. The BPL’s activities directly impacts our quality objectives.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Promotes and practices Centro’s Safety System to prevent and eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses by initiating incident reports and participating in reenactment, analysis, and corrective action. Assures emergency procedures are followed and arranges transport to health care provider. Completes Safety Review of Existing Product (SREP) and Work Area Safety Assessment (WASA) and implements preventive and corrective action to resolve current or potential safety concerns.Establishes machine processing settings to ensure product is being molded properly through compliance with the cure verification process and assures proper implementation of process changes. Routinely reviews and revises “Special Instructions to Machine Operator”. Confirms production preventive maintenance procedures are followed by manufacturing Associates. Specifies mold placement and load / unload sequence when critical. Assures Mold Condition Reports procedures are followed as specified and establishes expectations, monitors, and coordinates scheduled mold changes. Continuously monitors machine utilization for improvement opportunities.Assigns finishing and inspection responsibilities to manufacturing Associates and ensures specified processes and work instructions are followed. Conducts audits routinely for process and product quality. Assures accuracy of Daily Production, Finished Recap and CNC reports by 8 AM daily.Performs responsibilities in accordance with those defined in Centro's Quality System including dispositioning nonconforming product in accordance with QSP 8300. Reviews “hold” list on a weekly basis to determine if product can be dispositioned. Facilitates root cause analysis and corrective action on Quality Action Reports (QAR) and Internal Quality Reports (IQR) to prevent reoccurrence of issue. Assures production “in-process” and “final” inspections are conducted according to specified PSR. Drives on-going mistake proofing effort.Establishes manpower needs for machine team on a weekly / daily basis as necessary to maintain machine utilization at optimum level while not sacrificing safety or quality. Conducts weekly team meetings to review performance with manufacturing team. Assures work area set-up checklists are accurate and distributed to machine teams by the end of the workweek. Assures effective shift hand off meetings daily (huddle meeting / huddle meeting critiques / transition meetings).Participates in the hiring process and termination process of Associates. Assures Associates receive necessary training as needed. Conducts review and planning sessions. Facilitates coaching sessions to redirect performance and ensures Associates are in compliance with the Associate Handbook rules and guidelines.. Reviews and approves vacation requests and assures coverage for vacation and unscheduled absences. Informs Business Unit Leader of Associate grievances and violations of established rules, guidelines, or work instructions. Assures completion of lateness and absence forms in a timely fashion. Recommends Disciplinary Action as needed.Assures the Centro Management Operating System (MOS) is being fully utilized by all manufacturing Associates within the team. Reviews weekly production schedule and identifies improvement opportunities. Establishes labor hours required to complete scheduled production; monitors and communicates performance to the plan. Participates in daily performance recap discussion and weekly manpower planning discussion and communicates performance and plans to address as needed.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesHigh school diploma required. The ability and desire to learn and apply new knowledge and skills required. Technical or manufacturing certification or Associates degree preferred. Basic math skills required.Two years of manufacturing experience highly preferred.Knowledge of Centro’s Management Operation System (MOS), Centro’s manufacturing operations, tools, and techniques, Centro’s Quality System and ISO 9001requirements is required.Centro Certified Internal Quality Auditor.Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills are required.Ability to use and operate all tools and equipment used in Centro’s manufacturing processes, including : rotational molding machines, calculator, common hand tools, power drill and router, band saw, forklift truck, and common office equipment, including Centro’s computer system and applicable software for production planning and communications, copier, telephone and voice mail, fax, and email.This position has required competencies that must be achieved to become and remain qualified. Must be able to see, speak, hear, read and write sufficiently for effective communications to perform the essential functions of the job. Must be able to walk, stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must have substantial dexterity in the hands, fingers, arms and the body to feel, reach, lift and bend.
Work Environment and ScheduleWork is performed in an office and manufacturing environment, with some periodic exposure to temperatures ranging from 55-100 degrees F. Normal work schedule is Monday through Thursday 6 AM – 4 PM, with some potential for occasional variances depending on departmental workload. Will commit sufficient time to accomplish all job responsibilities in a timely manner.
