FTE Classification: 37.5 hours/week, FTE Non-Exempt

Location: Fresno County
Job Announcement: Centro La Familia Advocacy Services is seeking a qualified candidate to implement victim advocacy services for its Trafficking and Crime Victim’s Assistance Program (TCVAP). TCVAP provides support to noncitizen victims of human trafficking, domestic violence and other serious crimes with the goal of securing victims’ immediate and long-term safety needs. Services are delivered in a culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate manner. This position is funded by Fresno County Department of Social Services
Position Summary: The Victim Advocate will provide culturally appropriate sexual assault services including direct crisis intervention and advocacy, safety and justice options, court- accompaniment, linkages, workshops and support groups. The Victim Advocate will maintain ongoing culturally friendly services targeting clients and their families, conduct outreach and education, and track program activities and client outcomes.
Qualifications
Candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication, ability to follow-through, and be detail-oriented. Candidate must be organized, professional, and able to work in a fast- paced, multi-faceted environment. Candidate must be proficient in the use of technology to collect, analyze and manage program data as well as computer literate in Windows platform; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Applications. Candidate must possess the ability to maintain good recordkeeping and documentation, good presentation skills, and have the capacity to be self-motivated. It is mandatory to meet employment eligibility requirements as established by the program’s funding agency.
Preferred Education:
- BA in victimology, public health, counseling, social services, human services or any other related degree.
Preferred Experience:
- Two years experience in a community based human service agency as eligibility worker, advocate/paralegal or other related work experience.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Program Functions:
- Responsible for the delivery of services to victims of sexual assault and must demonstrate sensitivity to victims.
- Conduct crisis intervention and intake assessment following CLFA’s established intake and case management processes.
- Assess victim’s needs and develop a safety plan.
- Learn and prepare temporary restraining orders.
- Learn and implement eligibility requirements for U-Visa.
- Provide court accompaniment to help victims navigate the legal system.
- Link victims to services including public benefits, shelter, food, counseling, legal and other services.
- Conduct “roving advocacy” services targeting rural communities.
- Develop and maintain working relationship with the Department of Social Services,
Department of Behavioral Health, Department of Public Health, law enforcement,USCIS, Consulate of Mexico in Fresno, medical practitioners, courts, community organizations, food banks, emergency shelters and others as identified.
- Conduct outreach and education on sexual assault.
- Establish and facilitate workshops and support groups.
- Participate in community health fairs, presentations, and forums.
- Conduct on-air media interviews educating the public on these topics.
- Participate in ongoing trainings.
- Participate in weekly case review activities/meetings.
- Conduct other duties as needed.
Travel:
- Transportation and valid California Driver’s License required
- This positions requires up to 25-50% of travel timeReporting & Record-Keeping:
- Utilize data collection tools to document program activities for reporting
- Keep all files/matters accurate and confidential pursuant to CLFA’s established case file protocols and policies
- Document the timely completion of contractual goals and objectives, including internal and external reports
- Use tools to document and track program progress which include: sign in sheets; demographic forms, pre/post-tests, assessment outcomes, updates on social media, etc.

Working Environment
- Evening and weekend hours as needed
- Maintain a flexible schedule to achieve program deliverables required
- Occasional lifting and hauling of boxes weighing 5-25 lbs
- Ability to type for several hours a day
- Occasional extended periods of sitting and/or standing
- Occasional travel throughout the County of Fresno to attend meetings and other related events
- Comfort in outdoor conditions as necessary to achieve program deliverables
