Summary & Objective
The incumbent in this position coordinates and implements the Health, Mental Health, and Disability Services in compliance with agency policies and procedures, regulatory agencies requirements, funding sources stipulations, and accreditation guidelines.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for obtaining required documentation for the child to be admitted into the program and auditing child records, to ensure completion, of the health records of each child at the time of enrollment.
- Responsible for entering all health data into the computer software system.
- Maintains accurate, signed, and up-to-date information on all children’s records, including immunizations, physical exams, laboratory, vision, hearing, dental, special diets, and allergy screenings with required follow-ups as stipulated by agency Policies and Procedures, regulatory requirements, and all funding sources guidelines.
- Keep records of children referrals needing screenings, exams, and/or treatment related to health, mental health, and disability services in the computer software system.
- Conduct monthly checks of the First Aid Kits to ensure that all required items follow accreditation guidelines, regulatory requirements, and all funding sources guidelines.
- Ensures that all sensory (vision and hearings) and behavioral screenings and developmental are completed within 45 days after the children entering the program.
- Ensure parents maintain up-to-date children’s health requirements by reminding them of the expiration dates and necessary follow-ups, at least one month in advance.
- Responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings for children with disabilities, and special needs.
- Responsible for keeping teachers informed of children who must be excluded from the center due to non-compliance with health requirements Attends children who have been hurt or sick. Assist in completing incident reports for accuracy and follow-up within 24 hours of the incident.
- Provide information, referrals, and follow-up services, and develop a network of service providers to families in need.
- Coordinate and/or provide training to staff and parents regarding health, mental health, and disability services topics, including but not limited to medication administration procedures, health prevention, and services for children with special needs.
- Coordinate transportation for children with special needs under the Head Start program and accompany children when needed.
- Develop and maintain current, accurate,e and confidential client information.

Other Duties
- Demonstrates flexibility when work schedule needs to be changed to meet the needs of the center
- Attend conferences, trainings, and staff meetings as required
- Maintain deficiency-free and 90% compliance in the safety area and regulations
- Complies with all personnel policies and procedures, including but not limited to dress code, wearing of name badge, professional image and conduct, punctuality and work attendance
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect towards persons of different cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds
- Provides orientation to new employees as needed.
- Maintain your required certifications and mandatory skill updates.
- Comply with all policies, local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
- May serve as an interim department leader depending on need.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds., walk, climb stairs or ladders, stand on feet for extended periods, etc.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in a Health related field
- CPR & First Aid
- Bilingual – English / Spanish
- Ability to enter data in computer systems
