Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Dental Director, the Dentist performs professional dental care in the diagnosis and treatment of patients and assists the Dental Director in implementing the dental program.
Essential Functions:
- Provides care in the following disciplines of general dental practice. Diagnosis, Preventative, Operative, Periodontics, Pedodontics, Endodontics, Removable and Fixed Prosthodontics, Oral Surgery and Minor Orthodontics.
- Assists in providing direction to the dental staff that ensure the delivery of quality patient care that is consistent with the approved legal scope of practice.
- Assists in providing and promoting in-service and other educational opportunities that address specific essential issues unique to the patient population.
- Assists in evaluating and supervising the Registered Dental Hygienist, Dental Assistants and other assigned personnel.
- Assists in the development and implementation of the Dental Care Plan.
- Represents CSV interest, from a dental perspective, to public forums, meetings and conferences, as directed by the Dental Director.
- Communicates and demonstrates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge in examining and treating diseases, injuries and malformation of teeth, gums and mouth.
- Knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of dental oral diseases.
- Knowledge of the principles, standard practice methods and techniques of dentistry.
- Knowledge of preventive dentistry and educational methodologies utilize in prevention.
- Skilled in oral operative techniques and the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with patients and staff.
- Culturally sensitive to the population served by a Community Primary Health Care Center.
- Ability to accept and incorporate faith based approaches into the dental practice philosophy.
- Ability to work a flexible, extended work schedule, including attendance at meetings and workshops.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree of Doctor Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DDM).
- Current license of practice dentistry in the State of Texas.
- Two (2) years experience in the practice of dentistry preferred.
- Current CPR certification.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $57.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
