- Duties: Nuclear Medicine Tech, under general supervision, performs routine diagnostic procedures and may have individual responsibility for training and leading the work of other employees.
- Qualifications: Nuclear Medicine Technologist, NYS license/registration
- ARRT or CNMT certification in Nuclear Medicine
- Valid CPR certification
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients following established protocols.
- Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures, including PET, SPECT, and other specialized studies.
- Operate gamma cameras and other imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images.
- Monitor patients during procedures and ensure their safety and comfort.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including documentation of administered doses and imaging results.
- Process and analyze images, ensuring they meet quality standards for diagnostic interpretation.
- Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare team members to provide optimal patient care.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, including radiation safety and infection control.
- Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Assist with scheduling and managing patient flow to optimize department efficiency.
- Educate patients and their families about nuclear medicine procedures and address any questions or concerns.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field required.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (N) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) required.
- New York State license as a Nuclear Medicine Technician required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technician preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of nuclear medicine procedures and equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Compassionate and patient-focused attitude.
- Proficient in using imaging software and electronic health records (EHR).
- Attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficient in the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
