POSITION OVERVIEW: Combination Welding Instructor

Do you have real-world experience in welding and a passion for sharing your skills? You don’t need prior teaching experience to become an instructor at Centura College. If you have practical expertise and the desire to help others succeed, we’ll provide the training and support you need to excel in the classroom.

As an instructor, you’ll play a vital role in preparing students for fulfilling careers in welding and skilled trades. This is your chance to make a difference while advancing your own professional growth in a supportive and rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality instruction in welding courses using established curriculum and lesson plans.
• Maintain accurate academic and attendance records in alignment with institutional policies.
• Ensure classrooms and labs are well-maintained, safe, and conducive to learning.
• Submit grades, evaluations, and reports on time to the Program Coordinator or Campus Leadership.
• Proactively address student attendance and performance concerns, providing support and escalating issues as necessary.
• Actively engage in retention efforts to support student success.
• Participate in faculty meetings, in-service training, and professional development sessions.
• Assist in maintaining equipment and inventory, and submit supply requests as needed.
• Monitor new student attendance during their first three weeks and provide timely updates to leadership.
• Uphold and model professionalism, demonstrating a commitment to student learning and institutional goals.

Education

• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
• A minimum of three years of practical, related work experience in welding is required.

Experience & Skills

• Teaching experience is not required—we’ll provide the training and resources to help you succeed.
• Up-to-date knowledge and a commitment to continuing education in your field.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for helping students achieve their goals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Campus Nexus is a plus.

Certifications

• Must obtain an American Welding Society (AWS) certification within six months of hire.

Schedule:

Monday through Thursday:

• Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
• Evening Shift: 4:30 PM – 10:30 PM
• No Fridays or weekends!
