Job Details
Provides specialized cardiovascular care, while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort.
Performs / reviews a baseline patient assessment, and evaluates patient response to diagnostic cardiac procedures.
Proficient in the operation and maintenance of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used for procedures in the specific area of operation.
Performs accurate and thorough echocardiograms as ordered by physician.
Performs specialized testing using computer assisted devices including TEE, Stress Echo, Pharmacological Stress Echo’s.
Cross trained to perform EKG’s, Treadmills, and Holter monitors as needed.
Maintains and reviews equipment, ensuring proper function and calibration of machines.
Maintains high skill level through participation in CQI, in services, ongoing education, and attendance at 80% of staff meetings.
Ability to provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and / or facility policy.
Recognizes and promptly acts upon unusual results or patient response by informing primary health care team to ensure patient safety and foster optimal outcomes.
Must be able to deal with many different personality types, ages and levels of consciousness of patients.
Must be able to adjust approach based on patient / family level of understanding of test procedure.
Promptly trouble-shoots and corrects recording instrument malfunction or unusual patient problems that interfere with recordings.
Independently prioritizes clinical and administrative work and identifies process improvements.
Process patient and department records ensuring documentation of performed tests in accordance with hospital standards.
Job Requirements
One year of experience in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography), preferred.
Float Requirements : Floating may be required to any CommonSpirit location within sixty (60) miles of the original assignment location or CommonSpirit-identified “float zone”. Float assignments may include duties outside of original assignment job requirements in accordance with CommonSpirit policy.
