Job Title : Patient Access Representative
Job Specialty : Non-Clinical
Job Duration : 13 weeks
Shift : 8-hour day shift, 5 days a week
Guaranteed Hours : 40 per week
Experience : Epic and healthcare experience preferred
Must-Have :
Experience in office work within a healthcare environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Windows XP, Windows 7, and website search engines
Data entry skills
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Proficiency in English (read, write, and speak)
Job Description :
Create a positive impression for each patient, family member, visitor, or staff while performing tasks such as pre-admitting, admitting, or registering.
Interview patients or relatives to obtain demographic and financial information and record it accurately in the electronic record system.
Verify insurance benefits and explain financial requirements, collecting outstanding patient portions prior to or at the point of service.
Serve as a mentor to new associates and assist in the orientation of new employees.
Perform primary responsibilities, including registration, insurance verification, cash collections, phone management, customer service, problem-solving, and workflow management, while maintaining departmental accuracy guidelines.
Demonstrate the importance of quality and integrity in capturing patient information, ensuring patient confidentiality.
Utilize technology to verify and document insurance eligibility efficiently and timely according to established standards.
Obtain signatures, verify the accuracy of information, and scan documents into the electronic patient record as applicable.
Consistently perform the registration process through timely, accurate, and courteous completion of patient clinical and financial data.
Work daily reports as assigned and train in other Patient Access areas.
Collect patient portions from patients prior to or at the time of service. If the patient cannot pay the amount due, a referral to a financial counselor will be initiated.
In emergency departments, you may be required to stand and walk up to 80% of the shift.
Must have skills including medical terminology, ability to multitask, and prioritization skills.
