Job Description

Job Title : Radiology Technologist

Job Specialty : Radiology

Job Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 10-hour day shift, 5x8 hours

Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week

Experience : One year post-certification experience required to evaluate and / or instruct student radiographers. Previous radiologic technologist experience preferred.

License : LRT Kansas LRT, required (applicable entities)

Certifications : Registered Technologist, Radiology - R.T. (R) (ARRT); BLS American Heart Association

Must-Have : High school diploma or GED; ARRT-R certification; BLS certification

Job Description :

• Provide quality patient care within the medical imaging department.
• Perform high-quality images and exams, maintaining sensitivity to patient needs.
• Follow standards of safe radiation practice and demonstrate leadership abilities as a role model.
• Act as a clinical resource to students, staff technologists, and other hospital personnel.
• Assure current standards of practice and perform diagnostic radiology procedures with safety.
• Practice radiation safety, reducing exposure to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
• Produce quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.
• Prepare patients for exams, providing information and instructions to patients and families.
• Assist and position patients during exams, observing conditions and reporting occurrences.
• Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling, and equipment / resource management.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff.
• Assist with patient transport, perform IV starts, and contrast administration as required.
• Perform technologist duties of other registered modalities as assigned by management.
• Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department policy.
• Correctly input charges and data for procedures and supplies used during exams.
• Complete required hospital / medical imaging paperwork for each exam.
• Prepare room, equipment, and materials needed for exams.
• Maintain technical operation of equipment and notify service as necessary.
• Maintain a clean work area and document equipment maintenance.
• Proactively identify problems and follow up with management.
• Establish a motivating rapport with physicians, staff, and departments.
• Maintain a high skill level through ongoing education and share information with staff.
• Assist in the clinical and / or didactic education of student radiographers and other healthcare professionals.
• Encourage students to perform examinations and provide feedback on radiographs.
• Participate in clinical training, provide support, and guide development of clinical skills.
• Engage in professional activities through organizations, journal clubs, and online education.
• Participate in department / hospital quality and process improvement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with all State, Federal, accreditation, and hospital regulations and standards.
• Contribute to ACR accreditation as requested.
• Demonstrate effective time management and prioritize workload.
• Adapt to changing technologies, policies, regulations, census, and staffing through flexibility.
• Float assignments may be required within a specified distance of the original assignment.
• Engage in duties outside the original assignment as per policy.
