Job Summary: As a Project Accountant at Centurion Construction Management, you will play a vital role in the financial management of our construction projects. You will be responsible for monitoring project costs, preparing accurate financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Under general supervision, you will assist Project Managers and Superintendents with administrative and cost management support for assigned projects. This position brings continuity and a focus on established processes to ensure the Company’s and the Client’s best interests are served. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Project Cost Tracking: Monitor project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractor expenses, and overheads, to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including budget vs. actual analysis, cash flow projections, and variance reports for each project.
- Accounts Payable Processing: Review and process vendor invoices and subcontractor payment applications, and other project-related expenses in accordance with established procedures.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist Project Managers in the development of project budgets and forecasts. Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contract Compliance: Ensure compliance with contract terms, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards. Review contracts, change orders, and subcontract agreements for financial implications.
- Cost Control Measures: Implement cost control measures to identify cost-saving opportunities, mitigate risks, and optimize project profitability.
- Financial Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized financial records, including project contracts, purchase orders, change orders, and other relevant documentation.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to address financial issues, resolve discrepancies, and support project objectives.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or relevant professional certification preferred but not required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in public accounting or previous experience in project accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or equivalent) and MS Excel.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, cost accounting principles, and project management concepts.
