Centurion Consulting Group is looking for a Technical Writer for a long term federal government project. This position is Hybrid, with some onsite in Alexandria, VA. This is open to US Citizens with an Active Secret Clearance.
Role overview:
- Provide Technical Writer support to help modernize the Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN) transport and security through communications transport policy, Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) tech refresh, legacy elimination, Joint Reginal Security Stack (JRSS) deprecation, data center optimization, Internet Protocol Version Six (IPv6) strategy, and 4th Estate Network Optimization.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Writes, edits, proofreads, and/or provides writing support on non-technical and/or technical documents/deliverables or sections of documents/deliverables, such as technical or user manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), operational specifications, technical data packages, training materials, and programmatic deliverables.
- Gathers information through research, statistical reports, and interviews with technical staff.
- Translates complex data into user-friendly text for print and electronic publications.
- Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts.
- Conducts quality review of materials.
- Coordinates with stakeholders or other experts to develop draft and final copies of documentation while ensuring documents meet editorial and Government specifications and adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style.
- Follows cataloging systems and maintains records, files, electronic media, and information archiving for documents and deliverables.
Basic Qualifications:
- Defense industry experience with editing narrative and graphical products to identify and correct grammatical formatting, readability, and logic errors and to identify technical inconsistencies requiring engineers’ attention.
- Experience with a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, and graphical art applications to produce technical manuals, procedures, graphics, and technical papers.
- Experience with the creation, compilation, and delivery of complex system developmental documentation packages such as narratives, logic diagrams, input and output samples, input preparation instructions, job setup information from technical project team inputs, system requirements analysis, system design specifications, technical system design, technical procedures development, configuration control requirements, test and training specifications, and programming notes.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience or 9 years of related experience without the degree. • Demonstrated experience working within the Agile framework.
- US Citizen and a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working within DoD IT infrastructure.
Clearance: Active Secret Clearance
Citizenship: US Citizenship is required
Travel: < 10% (CONUS)
