MHM Solutions, a Centurion company, is proud to be the provider of healthcare staffing solutions to state agencies within the state of Pennsylvania.
We are currently seeking a full-time Deaf and Nontraditional Communication Support Professional to join our team at Office of Developmental Programming located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The Deaf and Nontraditional Communication Support Professional The employee in this position works closely with the Deaf Services Coordinator to ensure that Deaf participants in home and community-based service programs receive accommodations and supports to maximize receptive and expressive communication. Employee will also perform professional and clinical work to support individuals with communication needs across the lifespan. The contractor will collaborate with other Pennsylvania offices such as PaTTAN, , the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation’s Office, or Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing to identify and expand availability of interpreter and assistive technology services.
The contractor works in conjunction with Administrative Entities and Supports Coordination Organizations to expand the availability of providers who are wiling and qualified to support individuals who are Deaf and/or have nontraditional communication needs.
The contractor may also develop training materials to increase knowledge and awareness of the unique needs of people who are Deaf and/or have nontraditional communication needs.
Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or another related field
• At least 2 years of professional experience working with individuals who communicate through sign language, tactile sign language, visual gestural communication, or other nontraditional communication methods
• At least 1 year of professional experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
• Efficient skills in Microsoft Office
• American Sign Language fluency at Survival Level required; fluency at or above Intermediate Plus level strongly preferred
• Any relevant combination of education and experience to fulfill job requirements -

The contractor may also develop training materials to increase knowledge and awareness of the unique needs of people who are Deaf and/or have nontraditional communication needs. - Available Shift: full time, 5 days; 37.5 hours week: 8 to 4pm with 30 minute lunch; in office and remote EE
- Will be required about monthly to various areas of the State, most usually Pittsburgh & Philadelphia, though other areas may be necessary/ All State units are currently running a minimum of 1 in-office day per month. There is always the potential for additional in-office days at the request / direction of the Agency. The chosen candidate should be able to onboard remotely as well.
Rate: $50 per hour
Salary : $50
