CBIZ Somerset is a relationship driven accounting and advisory firm that is always looking for smart, ambitious, friendly people for our office locations in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Michigan City! We are currently seeking an experienced public accounting professional with a Tax or Audit background for an exciting leadership opportunity in Michigan City, Indiana! The Director will play a pivotal role in managing client relationships and ensuring the delivery of high-quality audit, tax, and advisory services for our Michigan City office.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

Oversee Tax / Audit engagements and serve as the primary point of contact for a diverse portfolio of clients

Build and maintain strong client relationships based on trust and exceptional service

Lead and mentor a team of managers, staff, and administrative professionals fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth

Expand revenue of existing clients

Responsible for short-term and long-term business planning; identify business opportunities for CBIZ in addition to their individual practice

Represent the firm at networking events, local community activities, and participating in industry associations.

Identify opportunities to generate new business and expand revenue through client referrals and cross-selling firm services.

Manage practice effectively by meeting billing, realization, days outstanding and individual charge hour objectives

Ensure compliance and quality control standards are met

Additional responsibilities as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation or related field

CPA license

10 years' experience in public accounting (tax or audit)

Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster a collaborative and inclusive culture.

Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance in the context of public accounting

Excellent communication and business development acumen with proven success managing client relationships and driving revenue growth

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required

8 years of experience in public accounting or related field

6 years of supervisory experience

Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
