Fire Alarm Service Technician

Summary
Responsible for fire alarm service, retrofits, and tenant build-outs, testing, inspection and repair; performing on-site emergency troubleshooting programming, identifying code and non-conformance issues, and preparing accurate and timely service tickets and reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain and service fire alarm systems.
- Layout, assemble, low voltage equipment for fire alarm systems, ensuring work complies with relevant codes and regulations.
- Test all features and equipment to ensure optimum functioning.
- Perform inspections and diagnose any problems.
- Read, understand, and follow product manuals and educate customers on care and maintenance of systems.
- Write and submit customer status and completion reports.
- Oversee and direct helpers and/or installers.
Education and/or Experience
5 years of experience or equivalent education and experience; including electrical construction including wiring and conduit installation; knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code) and NFPA 72; experience with Notifier, Silent Knight and FCI/Gamewell.
Additional Requirements
Fire Alarm License required. Pre-employment drug screen and clean MVR. Overtime and weekends may be required.
Computer Skills
Basic computer skills; experience working with laptop and/or iPad.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
