LIFEGUARD JOB DESCRIPTION: THE CLUB AT WYNSTONE POSITION SUMMARY: under general supervision of Pool Manager, ensures the safety of patrons of the aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies; assisting Head Swim Coach with organization, implementation, and administration with swim lessons/swim team programs offered at the club.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency. 2. Remain alert and use all senses while guarding. 3. Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. 4. Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service. 5. Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility. 6. Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports. 7. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 6 months experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. First Aid and CPR/AED Certification; current certification as Lifeguard by a recognized source of training. Previous competitive swimming experience (age group or high school) is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations (excellent interpersonal and communication skills). Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques. Knowledge of CPR/AED and emergency medical procedures. Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions. Communicate and enforce all club regulations and pool rules in a personable and professional manner. Communicate any potentially dangerous elements of the facility to the Pool Manager and Head Guard. Attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures of The Club at Wynstone. Work as a team with other lifeguards during special club events (e.g. swim meets, pool parties). Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur; working as a team member to cover. lifeguarding/swim lesson schedules. Punctuality and reliability expected. All lifeguards are highly encouraged to also function as swim coaches to instruct both group and private swim lessons. Knowledge of basic swimming mechanics (terminology) and experience with age-appropriate/developmental drills to develop strong and efficient age-group competitive swimmers.
COMPENSATION $15 hourly rate based on lifeguarding/swim coach experience Private Swim Lesson Rate: $150 per session (5 @ 40-minute lessons
