Summary of Position:
Product management: The intersection between business, technology, and user experience. A good product manager must be experienced in at least one, passionate about all three, and conversant with practitioners in all. Product managers should be obsessed with optimizing new and existing products to achieve corporate business goals.
Essential Functions:
- Analyze current product to ensure it is still viable to the overall performance goals of the company.
- Define product strategy and roadmap.
- Deliver KPIs to management.
- Responsible for conducting rigorous research.
- Identify Gaps in product assortment.
- Prepare short and long-term sales and margin contribution forecasts for new product launches.
- Determine product pricing.
- Be the first point of collaboration with vendors in the development process.
- Negotiate cost with vendors.
- Responsible for leading multiple projects.
- Understand quality & compliance requirements (CPSIA)
- Manage a product from inception to launch.
- Work with an engineering (R&D) counterpart
- Work with a marketing counterpart by providing strategic reasoning for new product introductions including product platform, features & benefits.
- Must be a team player.
Competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities):
- Two years’ experience as Product Manager (Less may qualify as an Associate Product Manager)
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Advanced knowledge regarding competition.
- Advanced knowledge regarding raw materials.
- Knowledge of Technology & manufacturing processes
- The position may require some travel <10%
- Demonstrated success in defining and launching products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to influence cross functional teams without formal authority.
- Skilled in Illustrator and Photoshop
- Good organizational skills
- Flexible attitude
- Martial Arts Background not required but a plus.
Work environment: Typical office conditions – no exposure to adverse environmental conditions or loud noises
Physical Demands:
- Sitting – 90% daily
- Bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, standing or walking – 10% daily (occasional)
- Visual acuity (20/40 – correctable by glasses/contacts)
- Repetitive motions such as typing
- Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling
- Talking and Hearing
Travel: up to10% annually
