Job Summary

Leads team members to identify, manage, and execute the plant's production and quality goals as well as process improvement opportunities. Identifies problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolves issues. Ensures production resources including materials, equipment and crewing are available as needed to maintain production schedules. Supports continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost and customer service. Responsible for directing, training, and owning various functions of the business and creating an engaged and team-oriented work force in order to improve business results.

The individual in this role may be called upon to lead projects including improving productivity, minimize waste, quality control, safety audits, machine speeds, and participate in cost savings initiatives. Train lesser qualified current and new employees; work with supervisor to track new employees progress in training, other duties as assigned / required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (

  • Essential Functions)

  • Monitor production to meet quality, productivity, and cost standards.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance / guidance on equipment as needed.
  • Identifies problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolves issues.
  • Provide employee training to ensure employees meet job responsibilities effectively.
  • Adhere to / enforce company / plant rules and procedures.
  • Assist with evaluating performance; make recommendations for improvements; monitor as needed.
  • Participate in / support plant and company safety programs and requirements.
  • Monitor machine shut downs; ensure proper wash up of machines at end of shift
  • Other duties and assignments as required.
  • Physical Requirements & Work Environment :

  • Frequent standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, grasping, and reaching throughout shift.
  • Ability to perform a volume of mechanical detail work with speed and accuracy; manual dexterity.
  • Mental alertness; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., carry 50 lbs., push 100 lbs., pull 75 lbs.
  • Exposure to noise; must wear hearing protection and safety shoes.

  • Operate with integrity and confidentiality.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of direct experience as an Envelope Machine Adjuster.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience of team leadership experience
  • Advanced mechanical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Intermediate math; measurement; and computer skills.
  • Ability to convey a positive image to coworkers, effectively participates with teams.
  • Understands the team / department key performance measurements, goals, other.
  • Working knowledge of plant equipment and safety; Track record in improving machine speeds to positively impact productivity.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work weekends and / or shift work as needed; Assists with shift coverage as needed.
  • Self-motivated individual; ability to multi-task and direct others; Operate with integrity and confidentiality.
